Best of 2001, Part one
Well, 2001. Yeah.

Quite a year, wann'it?
This is my friend Beth. Don't misinterpret what I mean, but she has some darned purty eyes.
Hello, wish you had been here.
2001, part deux.
Yo, I mean -- I did add some new photos. Some of those collections had 100s of pictures. I dropped this whole collection over at Ofoto to get a few prints ordered off of 'em. You can do likewise there...
November 4, 2001 -- @#$@#$# sideyard
Every homeowner at some point finds their personal "police action" on their property -- that "simple project" which just goes and goes and goes and goes and...well, you get the point. This was the culmination of about eight months of on-again, off-again work with Greg's help. It came out just about the way I envisioned it, a happy semi-wandering concrete path. Don't use it much -- I just stand there...
You know what they say about guys with big hands, don't you? Big handprints.
As it says at the gates of hell: abandon hope all ye who enter here.
October 27, 2001 -- Hallow-fucking-ween!
Sweet merciful Jesus, what a party that was. Man, I can honestly say I can't remember a time when I've had more fun (though the Fourth came close). This is not me playa hating y'all who couldn't make it (R&C ;), but god DAMN. New rule: no more getting stoned at dressup parties. Grant goddamn near killed me, all night. That was honestly the funniest thing I'd seen in a long time. Anyways, nice party, fantastic guests and friends-of-friends dropping into the mix.
October 17, 2001 -- Honk if You Love Bush!
George W. came by on a pit-stop for Airforce One before cruising over to the Pan Pacific Trade Conference or whatever the hell it was. In this day and age, having the President come to your town is kind of like cruising Rio Linda blasting hip hop. Everybody held their breaths for a few hours and turned the TV on. I missed The Big Show but dropped by to see what it looked like in aftermath with Ann & Alexis.
How are your civil rights, matey?
If you don't like _this_ photo, you won't like about half of them.
October 13, 2001--San Francisco
Hilary and I were ostensibly in town to go to John's party (well, John cohosted it anyways) and pissed away a goodly chunk of a really nice day in the city. Couldn't think of a better way to do it. We went cruising for food, hit pier 39, tromped around Golden Gate park and pretty much abandoned our old Bay Area ways and went totally tourist. Good fun, can see why they come by the busloads. Didn't take any shots of the party proper, and really only because I couldn't squeeze my hands down once I got 'em up to drinking level. Party that well attended in The City, you've got to decide if your arms are up or down and just sorta keep them there for the duration.
October 1, 2001--Wolfeboro
Had my one day of unemployment and damn, did I enjoy it. Roy and I went shootin' and offroadin' and drinkin' and hikin' and...

September 29, 2001--Yardsale
$26! The first-ever House yardsale and we made out like bandits! ;)
September 21, 2001--Birthday at The Beck's
The Becks invited me up to their place for a Very Special Dinner and the first of a week's worth of really nice festivities. Made me feel really loved this year -- thanks to everybody for thinkin' of me.
Jen's always good for an expression shot.
Oh, well...I've fucked the suprise already, haven't I?
September 15, 2001--Roy & Cheryl's BBQ
Nice little beginning-of-fall BBQ down at Casa De Bryan with Special Suprise Guests!
August/September 2001--Dennis' Wedding Celebs
I felt kind of lame about putting a whole string of Dennis stuff up one after another -- its HIS big day after all. I kept the photos pretty tight here and lumped 'em together from the stuff that I figured only I've got. In order it's the Nick & Jim organized shooting fete for D, as they wouldn't be able to make the game (photos ct'sy of Nick, who thoughtfully brought along a camera of his own). Next off to the "official" bachelor party at the A's game in our very own luxury box. Capped all that off with a really nice wedding up on the shores of Lake Tahoe. Good times for all.
Not what they mean by shotgun wedding.
It's the edge of the world as we know it and I feel drunk
August 23-26, 2001--Boise
Boise is a godforsaken town, some sort of sci-fi nightmare of a place where all the food is corporate and all the people are white and dress alike. Spooky. Only way to get through it is to drink -- heavily.
August 15-24, 2001--Northwest Roadtrip Vol. 2
More fun and foolishness from the PNW.
Yoiks!
Look, Ma! Washington!
August 15-24, 2001--Northwest Roadtrip Vol. 1
People kept asking "hey, when you gonna get something up from that roadtrip of yours." Answer: I've got 1220 photos to sort through and that takes a bit of time. Here is the first set from my trip with Chris and Andrew down the road in 30' of fury.
July 28, 2001--Chris & Christopher's Summer Party
Once again Messrs. Dupree and Shavor put on a wonderful bash in their charming place in The City. Great crowd, just one question -- where were all the chicks? ;)
Frankly Charlie Bill, I don't give a damn...

July 4, 2001--HRS Fourth of July 2
We celebrated the 225th anniversary of our independence the way God intended us to: by having a pool party and inviting all our fabulous friends! Some of 'em even took us up on it...
June 30-July 2, 2001--Mt. Whitney Roadtrip
Once again into the breach my dear friends -- and this time I made it!
Me about halfway up
I'm not entirely sure what hockey and Vacaville have in common, but its an odd place all around.
June 24, 2001--Pt. Reyes Roadtrip
One last trip out before Whitney, this time to see if I couldn't conquer the hill that kicked my ass squarely on my very first campout in scouts. At the end of the day, the score was Hill - 1, Bill - 1, and I'm comin' up from behind.
June 23, 2001--Last 'Q at U
The venerable party house formerly rented by Heather, Nicole and at one point Vicki became the centerpiece of a somewhat ugly piece of real estate wrangling that found them on their ass after the owner was more or less lied to. One last nice gig there before the house goes to its ultimate reward.

June 22, 2001--Pool-B-Que
The weather had been hotter than hell all week, so we invited everybody over to cool off in the pool. The weather was changing that day and it made for really cool, breezy night. Nice evening and good folks once again.
June 15-17, 2001--Betsy & Ken's Wedding & related roadtrip
Goddamn, what a wedding. I can't say that it was the best wedding I've ever been to, 'cause I'll get into trouble, but I think that it was quite possibly the best wedding I've ever officiated. Certainly one of the best three-day parties I've ever had the honor of being invited to. Great wedding, great people, great time. Every day should be this good.
I'm not wearing underthings under my robes.
Go, go Gidget!
June 8-9, 2001--Pool Days
When you're a pool owner in the Sacramento summertime, its hard not to invite people over all the time. After showing up at the bar to find NOBODY THERE, Greg and I headed home and got too lazy to go out ourselves. Managed to convince a few people to come out and a few folks headed over for the regularly scheduled nonsense the next day as well...
June 2, 2001--A Day In Sacramento
I'd gotten a bit too wasted the night before and had left my car downtown. Just going and getting it would be no fun, so I turned it into an adventure of sorts...
Isn't that pretty? I thought so. Wish you were here.
The Beck Girls
May 27, 2001 -- Roy and Cheryl's BBQ
Roy and Cheryl had their family over for a giant BBQ and were nice enough to invite the rest of us along for the eats. And Dad Beck taught me the secret of the Painkillers, of which now I only remember three of the four ingredients. Damnit...
May 24, 2001--Dog Shaving
Henry had always pestered me for years about shaving the dog but Greg finally put the final spin on it when he suggested that the dog would be "much cooler". He was right -- the dog seems generally happier now, especially now that is fur has grown out a bit and he doesn't look quite as ragged.

May 19, 2001--Dave Matthew's Band
WE Jen, Roy, Cheryl and I all headed down for the first concert at Pac Bell Park: Macy Gray, Dave Matthew's Band and a opening act that had a cameo by Santana. That's such a cute little park with everything that you might want at it. A ballpark perfectly suited for the Barbary Coast.
May 5, 2001--Sink-o De Mayo
What do Cinco De Mayo and pool parties have in common? Copious quantities of tequila, of course! The pool season opener corresponded quite nicely with Cinco de Mayo, so Vicki & I joined forces to put together a dual-purpose party that ran over 10 hours. I gotta stop living like that...

April 27-8 2001--Baseball & beyond
Roy & Cheryl had scored some tickets to see the River Cats play. My first weekend game and, man, the crowd sure is different on the grass than it was last year. Shaved my beard (shh--it's a suprise), watched the Kings and pretty much decompressed for two days with some nice folks.
April 19-25, 2001--Whistler & Vancouver
My company is pretty cool -- a couple of times a year it sends the entire lot of us someplace cool where we can all meet face to face, being as we are spread out in clumps of five or ten. This year's semi-winter trip was out to Whistler in BC and I dragged my friend Hilary along for a couple days bumming around Vancouver. Good times, eh?

April 15, 2001--Easter
I was fortunate enough this year to be invited over to the Beck's house as a guest for their Easter celebration. I felt truly loved & honored, and I'm not just saying that [sniff]. Anyways, a really, really nice time with some good folks & good food and more than a little drunken foolishness.
April 7, 2001--Greg's Birthday
Good Lord, I haven't been to a party like this in a long time and frankly, I'm almost glad for it. I can't take many more of these before they kill me. An epic get-together that had all the ingredients for madness & chaos that mixed nicely into a fine party containing just enough of each. An intesting, fun group of people and more than enough photos to make up for the past few months.

Winter 2001--Now is the Winter of our Discontent
Good god, the past few months have been crazy-crazy, but unfortunately mostly at bars or places that I didn't feel really comfortable dragging the ol' digital. Either that or I just plumb forgot to take pictures. Sometimes, each in equal amounts. A small smattering of photos from that period do exist, however.
January 12-14, 2001--Brendan's Cabin
It had been a good five years since I'd last been to Brendan's cabin. It's always a good time, though, and this trip was no exception.
Riiiiiiiiicola
Red wine! Red wine! Stop her!
January 6, 2001--Cheryl's Birthday
Cheryl is one of those poor people who have their birthdays smack in the middle of Christmas and New Years when it's really hard to get anybody together to party. Well, actually, I seem to recally we did get together to party, but Cheryl's folks wanted to have us over for an Official Dinner, Beck Stylee...
January 1, 2001--HRS 2K1
The HRS shakes bad memories of dead hos and ambulances and roars back onto the scene with the first party of the 21st century!
