S T O R I E S
THE AMBULANCE INCIDENT
We'd had a really successful New Year's party the year before, and we decided that we'd try to pull it off again. The party vibe just wasn't right for some reason. The House has actually had very few boogie parties, but this definitely had the feel of a bad moon on the rise. I donned my no-evil Hawaiian, apparently too late.

After midnight, a friend of a friend comes by. I didn't know this girl, and no one knew her carload of drunk friends. Apparently, they had been drinking at a bar up through the New Year, and then headed over to our place, at the invite of a friend of ours. One of the girls has way too much to drink, however. They brought her into the house and put her on the couch. Only a few minutes passed before Shavor made the determination that she was going to be an ambulance case. This was a fairly momentous decision, since neither the Chicoites nor none of the House parties had ever ended up requiring medical attention.

At this point, I get flamingly pissed off at the whole situation and decide to go on a very long walk to cool off. Right as I am leaving, the fire truck and accompanying ambulance show up. The rest of this story was told to me by Dave. Right before the paramedics show up, one of the Really Drunk Chicks' friends says "oh, she did this like a week ago". When the paramedics ask if this happened ever before, the friend responded that this was the first time. Dave then says "I thought you said this happened about a week ago". The dude blanches. The paramedic then asks how many drinks she'd had, whereupon the friend says "just a few". Dave again corrects this mistruth, again to the chagrin of the friend. The friend at this point tells Dave that perhaps he'd better shut up. I don't recall Dave's exact response, but suffice it to say that it was along the lines of "make me".

The girl gets carted up into the ambulance, and Nish, who is sober enough to drive, takes her friends to the hospital. The girl ends up being all right. I come back well after the drama is mostly over to find all my friends who have not already left are waiting to say goodbye to me when they got back. Henry was, of course, passed out through much of the drama. Chris, the third roommate at the time, had left his own party to go elsewhere. We never did see the girl again, nor the friend of the friend, and that would be the last party we had with Chris still living in the house.
