Cliff Claven Rule

Everybody's favorite postman from Cheers, he was seldom, if ever, without a "little known fact". The player who trips a Cliff Claven event must give a commonly knowable but little known fact (less than half the players should know this). The fact must be a matter of public record, and not something that is exclusionary in nature. The statement must start with "It's a little known fact that". Ex: "It's a little known fact that dyslexics tend to have inner ear disorders which constantly screw with their equilibrium and which is thought to be one of the causes of dyslexic symptoms". Any player can challenge the suitability of the fact which is then voted upon, the loser drinking.

Thumb Master/Thumb Control

The player initiating Thumb Control places his thumb quietly on the edge of the table. The last player to put his or her thumb on the edge of the table loses, must drink, and inherits the role of Thumb Master. Anyone who puts their thumb on the table outside of Thumb Control has committed a rookie move and must therefore drink.

The Three-D Rule

Players may not utter the words "drink", "drank", or "drunk", or any derivative thereof (eg "drinking", "drunken"). This is a harsh rule when implemented in games such as "Asshole" where commands to "drink!" are quite common. Experienced players will fall into the habit of avoiding these words even when the rule is not in effect.

No swearing

Probably one of the harder rules to comply by, as the natural tendency when drawing, say, 12 drinks is to utter an expletive.
